NOAA Federal 312 Evaluation and Public Meeting

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management is reviewing California’s Coastal Management Program as required under Section 312 of the Coastal Zone Management Act. The 312 Evaluation examines the operation and management of the Coastal Commission, the State Coastal Conservancy (SCC), and the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC), to assess the Program’s accomplishments and needs, and includes recommendations for program improvements. This year’s evaluation will take place August 26-30, 2024, and will include a virtual public meeting on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Details on the public meeting are as follows: Pursuant to the federal Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972, as amended, a virtual public meeting will be held as part of the federal performance evaluation of the California Coastal Management Program.

While advance registration is requested, registration will remain open until the meeting closes, and any participant may provide oral comment after the speakers who registered in advance conclude. NOAA may close the meeting early 15 minutes after the conclusion of public testimony.

The purpose of the meeting is to receive public comments regarding the operation and implementation of the California Coastal Management Program. Written comments are encouraged, and participation at the public meeting is not required for submission. Written comments should be emailed to Carrie Hall at czma.evaluations@noaa.gov no later than September 6, 2024. Include “Comments on Performance Evaluation of the California Coastal Management Program” in the subject line.
