Proceeds from the Cap-and-Trade Program support a wide range of programs and projects that reduce greenhouse gas emission and deliver major economic, environmental and public health benefits for Californians, including meaningful benefits to the most disadvantaged communities, low-income communities, and low-income households. As part of the Cap-and-Trade Program, the Legislature and Governor appropriate money from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) to State agencies through the Budget process.
BCDC has been allocated Greenhouse Gas Reduction Funds (GGRF) to promote and enhance the wellness of the Bay and the Suisun Marsh through various projects. These projects include:
- Coastal Resilience Planning and Policy Implementation
- Adapting to Rising Tides Program
- Permitting actions related to rising sea level adaptation, beneficial reuse of dredged sediment, wetland restoration and non-motorized transportation projects
- Bay Plan Amendment on Fill for Habitat Restoration
- Bay Plan Amendment on Environmental Justice and Social Equity
