March 5, 2020 Commission Meeting Summary

16 members attended the March 5, 2020 BCDC meeting at 1:00 P.M., which was held at the Bay Area Metro Center in San Francisco.

The Commission held a public hearing and voted 15-0-0 to approve a permit application by Terminal One Development, LLC, and the City of Richmond for a residential neighborhood and waterfront park in the City of Richmond, Contra Costa County. The Commission also considered the applicants’ appeal of the permit application fee for this project and voted 15-0-0 to approve the staff’s recommendation to deny the appeal. For details contact Marc Zeppetello (415/352-3655; marc.zeppetello@bcdc.ca.gov).

The Commission held a briefing on the development of the Regional Shoreline Adaption Strategy – Bay Adapt – a collaborative initiative to identify the priority actions necessary to adapt the Bay Area to rising sea level. For details contact Jessica Fain (415/352-3642; jessica.fain@bcdc.ca.gov).

The Commission held a public hearing and voted 14-0-1 to approve a contract for facilitation and process support services in support of the Regional Shoreline Adaptation Strategy described above. For details contact Jessica Fain (415/352-3642; jessica.fain@bcdc.ca.gov).

The Commission held a briefing on current planning for State Route 37, as well as an update on the SB1-funded SR37 Public Access Study. For details contact Jessica Fain (415/352-3642; jessica.fain@bcdc.ca.gov).

The Commission postponed three other agenda items to a future meeting, including: (1) a vote on an application from Contra Costa County to delete a site from the water-related industry priority use area designation in the San Francisco Bay Plan; (2) a briefing and potential vote on pending legislation; and (3) consideration of BCDC’s 2019 annual report.
